Day Surgery

Advances in medical technology and surgical procedures allow more surgeries to be performed on an outpatient basis, meaning patients can recover from surgery in the comfort of their own homes. At Northwest Hospital, we strive to make each patient’s day surgery experience as stress-free and comfortable as possible. Our experienced surgical staff paired with a team of highly qualified nurses offers a wide range of outpatient surgical procedures.

Outpatient surgical services are offered at Northwest Hospital’s main campus and at the North Seattle Surgery Center, located just south of the hospital’s main campus at 10330 Meridian Ave. North. At these two locations, surgeons use the latest technology and state-of-the-art equipment to ensure each patient receives the highest possible standard of care and that their life is interrupted as little as possible by surgery.

Your Day of Surgery
If you are scheduled for day surgery, you will not need to stay in the hospital overnight and will be able to go home the same day. Prior to surgery, you will be given specific instructions by your physician and the pre-admission nurse that you need to adhere to carefully. If these instructions are not followed, your surgery may have to be postponed. \

During your visit, a family member or friend can be with you in the pre-surgical area before surgery and in the recovery area later. We welcome the opportunity to include your friend or family member when we explain how you should care for yourself at home.

When you are ready to leave, your physician or nurse will give specific instructions on how to care for yourself at home and who to call if you have problems. A nurse will call you within 48 hours of your return home to follow up on your recovery.
