WEIGHT LOSS SURGICAL OPTIONS

Weight loss procedures are defined as three types of surgeries: restrictive, malabsorptive and combinations restrictive/malabsorptive.

Restrictive
These procedures reduce the amount of food the stomach can hold and slow the passage of food through the stomach. Largely restrictive, mildly malabsorptive
These procedures reduce the amount of food the stomach can hold and also cause malabsorption by bypassing part of the small intestine. Largely malabsorptive, mildly restrictive
These procedures mildly limit food intake into the stomach but bypass most of the small intestine so fewer calories and nutrients are absorded.
